About this Sculpture
At the heart of the work lies the guiding concept of meritocracy — a principle we all experience, consciously or unconsciously, in everything we do. As a kinetic, interactive sculpture, the piece makes this abstract idea physically tangible and involves the viewer directly. From a lateral perspective, the lenticular, precisely crafted surface projects a stark, binary pattern of black and white. Yet this geometric relief conceals a captivating detail: breaking through the valleys of the prisms is a translucent, vibrant red sphere — the true core of the work.
Mounted on MDF, the sculpture encourages a direct dialogue rather than passive observation. It can be freely rotated on its axis, while a hidden system of magnets enables a tactile alignment at the 12, 9, 6 and 3 o'clock positions. This kinetic mechanism turns viewing into a conscious act: the artwork challenges us to shift our perspective, recalibrate our focus, and continuously rediscover the driving inner force beneath the black-and-white facade.
