strength comes from within
front view: the red sphere, half freed from the twisted body – the first chisel marks still fresh.

what remains when everything unnecessary is taken away?
external structures and a changing world possess their own power and dynamic — they challenge us, shape us, and ask us to navigate the ambiguities of life.
depending on the angle, we too are perceived differently within this tension: at times appearing closed and angular, at others open and approachable. yet behind all roles, adaptations, and perceptions rests our inner core — that quiet impulse of dignity, value, and self-determination. it was never completely hidden, always present.
where we consciously strip away outer layers, we uncover it further. friction with the outside leaves its mark, yet the essence within remains whole.
this sculpture serves as a daily reminder to pause and choose our own perspective: unconcerned, but not indifferent. acknowledging the outside dynamic, letting go of the unnecessary, and giving space to our own inner weight.
which perspective do you choose today — and what do you uncover when you let go of the unnecessary?

about this work
strength comes from within is a free-standing sculpture within my series liminal resonance, presented here as a vision concept. a slender, twisted body rises from a narrow base; its edges turn as you walk around it, so the sculpture never shows the same silhouette twice. where the outer layer has been chiselled away, a red sphere comes to light – embedded in the material, as if the sculptor had only just begun to free it.
the sphere is not fixed. it can be lifted out and placed beside the sculpture, leaving the empty hollow as a trace of what has been uncovered. the rough surface, the coarse fracture and the chisel marks are part of the digital model itself and are carried one-to-one into the printed object.
as with thinking the corner, i publish this work at its conceptual stage – the moment where tension, balance and form have been resolved digitally, just before the transition into material. the edition is planned as five 3d-printed pieces (pla / petg), each with a red sphere.
background to the work
this sculpture is a deeply personal piece. it is rooted in a long journey that began four decades ago during my first encounter with the works of rodin and giacometti in paris – and which has now come full circle while exhibiting my own sculptures in paris.
